Hi. Well, I just came back from vacation just after my PC was stolen.

Just before my vacation, I had offered to my subscribers a nice little piece of software, called Article Ideas Generator (you can see that practical tool here).

And that went great. I use it myself so I thought that it would be of value for my friends. But people got angry, complained etc etc. And I just did not understand why!

Until I saw it. I had forgotten to include the software in the ZIP.-file!

So I am a real idiot…..for making that mistake.

And this is what I learned again:

1. Don’t launch something when you are not there all the time.

2. Check, check, check, check and check.

3. The customer is king.

That is why I gave all customers a great PLR Article Package for FREE just to show I am really sorry!

I am an idiot, as I should have known better. Sorry!

Good morning. Due to the weather, football was canceled again, so no matches for anybody in the family. So time for my 3rd free tip on how to survive the online recession.

This one is probably one of the most important ones around. As I was evaluating where I had lost money and where I made it in more detail, I got an email from a large company asking me to do something special for 1 hour. After some discussions they offered me $1200. Which I accepted

I also saw that with one small thing of $7 I actually made $3700 last year (on automatic).

By the way I am listening to this now:

I am a huge fan of Nils Lofgren since 1978 as you can read in the comments on my YouTube site here. This is great and gives me the creeps…..don’t you think so?

Anyway, the special TIP is:

“DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME”.

What you should do is write down during a week on what kind of things you spend your time for your (online) business. I discovered I waste a huge amount of time on going through hundreds of emails each day! And I missed important ones from clients…..

So my tip for today is:

1. Analyse your emailbox.

2. Unsubscribe from people that only want to sell or want to push you in buying expensive stuff from somebody else.

I did that again today and you know what? I discovered that a very limited number of people are actually responsible for filling up my emailbox.

I unsubscribed and that was a good first step. And you know what? I have actually unsubscribed from most of the gurus. Even if they do something ok, as thousands of people are doing the same thing, the market will be dead in no time. Because everbody will be dumping if they can.

Just basic “supply and demand” economics!

It is evening in The Netherlands and I wanted to take the time to talk to you about my second tip on “How To Survive The Online Recession”.

The music I currently listen to has a lot to do with that second tip and you will see why that is in a moment.

Today that is “Statesboro Blues” from the Allman Brothers Band at the Beacon in New York a few years ago.

How To Survive The Recession: Tip 2.

I have actually put this tip into practice myself his week: “How to earn money with your passion?”. Now, what happened is actually rather easy. I don’t know about you but I have always focused on a small number of niches and things in my business anyway.

Now while I was working on one of my new books after Skyping yesterday, I was also on YouTube again. And then I was thinking “why don’t you release things that you are passionate about?” Now I actually have a number of passions and one is the electric guitar.

And I am especially crazy (“sorry Fender lovers”…) about  Gibson Les Paul guitars like Duane Allman and now Warren Haynes from the current Allman Brothers line-up is using for playing slide guitar with Dereck Trucks on a SG. I actually now own a vintage one myself.

So what I did was I produced a small free guide and I produced it in no time. Here it is:

I actually made this eCover (and some more..) and the other graphics for the whole site (including header and footer) with free guitar articles and free guitar videos here myself. Using a free photoshop guide you can get here and some videos on Photoshop.

Now although I am not a pro, it looks ok, don´t you agree? What I then did is I made a viral ebook out of it for people to brand with their own links for peanuts, help them in this recession to earn 100% commissions and have fun at the same time! Well, a large flow of small commissions also makes a nice income and I also limited the number of branded versions, so that protects the interest of my clients (in this case, guitar fans like me and my existing clients).

And you know what? I really have a lot of fun doing this stuff! And I actually generated income from my passion at the same time.

Conclusion.

My second tip for 2009 is: focus and produce, flip sell or resell products and services about things you are passionate about and to people that have the same passion as you have. That is a great niche, whatever it is. So do not buy and try to (re)sell products and other things in all kinds of other niches. That is a waste of time, you don´t earn much and it is not really motivating either.

A lot of people are asking me what to do. Well, I decided to give out some tips based on what I find in my emailbox every day. For me this is a typical example of a problem that many people new on the Net face: a lot of often good, but old stuff is bundled and then sold. In this case there is again a sense of urgency created for these 87 old products.

So the rub is that you can get these products whenever you want, at a lower price than this….so no reason to hurry. Most of the offers I see today, including on giveaways, are of this type.

My first tip for 2009 is: do not buy large packages with PLR and MRR products but look carefully for what you need. The advantage is also that you are not tempted to promote these things to your lists……I personally hate to make my clients and subscribers pay too much for things I know they can get much cheaper somewhere else. Or they should not buy them at all in the first place as it is old stuff…

Now in many ways, 2008 has been a good year for me, but after having reviewed my business results over 2008 I have seen a number of things that make me say that there are a number of dramatic changes going on in online businesses that will go on in 2009.

Some characteristics:

- Online business is more a more time-based. If you are selling or reselling commodity products (PLR etc) you have to be first. If you are too late, you will not earn any money and will just be wasting your time;

- Many online business owners are dumping products immediately in order to keep their cashflow going;

- There is an online shakeout taking place for already some time and that will probably go on in 2009. This will mean that many online business owners will go broke just like many companies in the real economy;

- Those who will be able to break the rules instead of copying others and come up with new business models will survive, the others will go down;

- The days of large (“too large”) revenues from reselling products are over in most cases.

As it is clear from my own research and that of others that more and more people are actually working from home parttime, and thus have little time, it is critical to use that limited time in the best way possible.

That is why that I recommend everybody to revisit in detail what you did last year, where time was wasted, where time produced profits and how much and by doing exactly what.

I will tell you about my own personal analysis and the very unexpected things I discovered in a new report I am writing including the modest tips I would like to give you about what worked for me and what might help you.
